Seeking Applicants for Habitat for Humanity Freedom Build

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Lisa Wilbur, Executive Director Phone: 603-569-5664 Email: director@ossipeehabitat.org Website: www.ossipeehabitat.org Freedom, NH, March 23, 2022 - Ossipee Mountains Habitat for Humanity (OMHFH) is now accepting homeowner applications for a Habitat partner for a new build ready to break ground in Freedom, NH. This home will be a three- bedroom ranch style home. Potential applicants should be aware of the criteria for the Habitat program, which has three main elements: 1) The applicant(s) should have a true need for decent, affordable housing. Unstable or unsafe living conditions are two examples. 2) The applicant(s) must demonstrate a stable income stream. Income levels for the successful applicant will be 20-80% of the median income levels for the Carroll County area (see our website for a breakdown for income levels for individuals & family sizes). Credit and background checks are also part of the application process. 3) The applicant(s) must be willing to partner with Habitat and contribute to the building of their home. They are required to log a minimum of 250 sweat equity hours on their new home and should help in recruitment of family, friends, and members of the community to volunteer. This Habitat program does comply in accordance with Federal Fair Housing Laws. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and sexual harassment), familial status, and disability.
